The study deals with the illustrations of the English artist Louis William Wain (1860-1939) for Louis Wain’s Annual magazine and his books published at the same time representing the everyday life of early 20th century England. The research analyzes the individual elements of the daily life of English Victorian society demonstrated in illustrations. The author concluded that, despite the fact that the artist depicted a world inhabited exclusively by animals (mostly cats), the habitats, the images of clothes, the layers of emotional and social life, the daily activities of the artist’s heroes fully corresponded to the realities of the everyday life of England at the beginning of the 20th century. A combination of biological accuracy, anthropomorphism, and correspondence to historical time in the images of L.W. Wain later became a widespread phenomenon in foreign cinema.
