Retrospective and targeted approaches to evaluating the efficiency of fiscal policy

The article explores approaches to assessing the effectiveness of fiscal policy. The results of empirical studies of the impact of fiscal incentives on macroeconomic parameters are summarized. It is shown that a significant scatter and even inconsistency of econometric estimates indicate certain limitations of the methods of statistical analysis of retrospective data.
