The revolution of dignity: subtotals

The article is devoted to political problems of Ukraine after it gained its independence in 1991. Particular attention is paid to the activity of Ukrainian elite, who did not allow Ukraine to become an influential member of the international community, as it was expected after the Soviet Union collapse. The study highlights such features of Ukrainian elite as the deep interregional sociocultural disunity, permanent split and internal conflict. The article shows the causes and consequences of the revolutionary events of 2014 in Ukraine. As a result, neither the political elites nor the Ukrainian people achieved the desired goals.
