The paper deals with flint burins from the Upper Volga basin in the Early Neolithic. Initially it presents the main principle of classifying of this tools category. The burins are separated into groups according to blanks. Every group is divided in four types - dihedral burins, angular (break) burins, truncation burins and multiple burins. Type’s variants are determined on the number of burinated edges and sub-variants - on their location on the blank. The rest of the article characterizes 63 burins found on 14 reference sites in detail. In conclusion the author draws an inference on the overweight of the angular burins in comparison with the other types. Among these items made on blades blanks are twice more numerous than those made on flakes. Dihedral and truncation burins are rare. And the only single multiple burin was specified. Due to nonsufficient source database the whole assemblage of burins could be characterized only in general with less regard to periodization of the local Early Neolithic cultures.
