The article addresses the issues of increased noise emanating of passenger car exhaust system catalysts. It shows their significant contribution to the external and internal noises of a vehicle which seriously deteriorates the vehicle performance and image features. It presents the results of the Russian make catalyst modal investigation with the help of 3D scanning vibrometer. Its been noted an increased density of the catalysts own frequencies in the frequency range of its increased acoustic activity. Measures have been offered to improve acoustic characteristics of the catalyst.
