The results of field studies in Hovd aimag of Mongolia in summer 2012

In 2012 Buyant Russian-Mongolian archaeological expedition continued planned research in Hovd Aimag of Mongolia. The excavations were carried out on the ancient and medieval archaeological objects Received extensive materials that help give concrete meaning to the cultural and chronological scheme population history of the Mongolian Altay. One of the areas of regular field research is the valley Buyant (right tributary of the Hovd). On the archaeological object Ulaan Hudag I studied khereksur large (diameter more than 36 m), which is found near the «deer» stone carved with images. On one of the boulders that make up the outer ring of the mound, recorded petroglyphs. In the valley of Doond oos, near the center of Khovd soum, studied complex Har Uzuur I. It was a series of five Turkish fences oriented along the line S–N. Studied objects fit well in a series of similar structures of the Mongolian Altay. In the tract Huuray salaany am, on the left bank of the river Doond oos, excavated three mound. Two of them were dug in boxes of large slabs of stone mounds around. On the east side, each located ritual extension with complex architecture. In mound number one on the inside of the box is fixed plates ornament made of red paint in a grid. Design features of the objects under study are similar to the exploration of complex Chemurchek generality of the Bronze Age. The bones of the mound № 1 in different laboratories were obtained two radiocarbon dates. Barrow № 3 for a number of design features can be tentatively attributed to Afanasyevo time.
