The article presents immediate and long-term results of tricuspid valve replacement in a pediatric group. Two subgroups were studied: the first group included children who received bioprostheses (n=66), while the second subgroup consisted of patients with mechanical valves (n=46). The factors considered to be associated with mortality were young age and weight, as well as a higher NYHA functional class before surgery. The data obtained suggests that hospital mortality does not depend on the type of implanted prosthesis. The average time of reoperation in children with mechanical valves was 6.9±3.9 years, while that in the subgroup with bioprostheses 4.7±1.8 years. No significant advantages in the clinical course in the immediate postoperative period among the subgroups were revealed.
