Roman myth in the V. Ya. Brusov's novel «Reya Silvya»

Author builds the analyses of the novel «Reya Silvya» based on Brusov's concept of history and culture. The images of ancient Roman Civilisation in its decadence aspect and their art methods of realization are specially enlightens in the article. Considering the thoughts and images appeared in the novel, author discovers evolution of Brusov's perception of world cultural epochs and civilisations that arise, experience collapses and crisis and then goes down. It is shown that Brusov considers the events of ancient history in the context of contemporary reality.
