The role of androgens in metabolic regulation in middle-aged men

Androgens play a crucial role in regulating carbohydrate, lipid, and protein metabolism in men. Decreased testosterone levels are associated with insulin resistance, obesity, dyslipidemia, and metabolic syndrome. This article analyzes current data on the role of androgens in metabolic processes, mechanisms underlying metabolic disorders in androgen deficiency, and their clinical significance. The potential of hormonal therapy in preventing metabolic complications is discussed.
