The research analyzes the specific nature of the focus and methodology of modern cultural research. By comparing the impact of the concepts of M. Bakhtin, V. Dilthey, C. Snow, and M. Foucault on scientific knowledge, the author identifies the main development trends in cultural studies. The current state of cultural concepts is determined by the diversity of the author’s methodologies and approaches. Based on the terms developed by V. Fatyushchenko, the humanitarian texts should be divided into poetic and artistic ones. The author concludes that the task of humanitarian texts is to establish unique systems for explaining processes and artifacts while natural science knowledge reveals typical facts. Modern logic of scientific knowledge seeks to interpret humanitarian knowledge from the typical and recurrent standpoints and ignores the uniqueness of the individual experience of perceiving reality.
