The article analyzes the role of human factor during the civil war in the Urals. It is established that the advantage in the winter of 1918-1919 was gained by that party in the war, which managed to find support of the population. Severe punishment of deserters and means of propaganda were applied as influence measures, which turned out to be more effective in the Red army.
