Role of money in economy: key approaches in the Russian economic science of the late 19th century

The article deals with the systematization of views of Russian economists of the second half of XIX century concerning with the role of money in economy. The author shows that the majority of Russian economists emphasized the active role of money in the economy. It was the recognition of the active role of money that became the theoretical basis of scientists' advices to use the monetary policy for reinforcement of economic development of the country.
