Franchising is a special way of commercial activity when an individual entrepreneur or a small commercial enterprise agrees with a large firm, well-known and enjoying a good reputation on the national or international market, that this entrepreneur will conduct his commercial operations under the name of such a firm or under a trademark, or provide his services under a brand name services. This form of economic relations makes it possible to attract additional investments in industry and trade, to improve the level of personnel qualifications and modernize business processes for the manufacture or sale of more competitive and modern products. Franchising in Russia is a relatively new phenomenon, if we compare the history of the development of world franchising and Russian, it should be noted that the history of world franchising has more than two hundred years, and the Russian one has a little more than twenty years. Franchising, being one of the most successful ways of developing small and medium-sized enterprises, has significant potential as a form of doing business, but today there are a number of problems that hinder the more active development of franchising in Russia. Accordingly, in order to solve emerging problems, it is necessary to develop ways to overcome them. In particular, active support from the State should be considered as one of such ways. The article discusses the features and prospects of state support for entrepreneurship, in particular franchising.
