The role of art exhibitions in the cultural life of Russian provincial centers at the turn of the XIX-XX centuries (on the example of Simbirsk)

This article presents the analysis of art exhibitions organized in Simbirsk at the end of the XIX-early XX centuries by local artists and public figures. The increase in number of exhibitions was a characteristic feature of Russia's art life in those days. The author reveals the role of art exhibitions in the province's cultural life.
