The article investigates the role of intellectuals in the development of society. Basing on an analysis of historical facts, the author reveals the laws of development of human society, depending on the socio-political and economic living conditions. Intellectuals as a avant-garde of society, generally shows the most essential qualities of the people, inherent to the majority of population of that era.
