The role of electric charging stations in the transition to a carbon-neutral economy: legislative and infrastructure aspects in California and London

Бесплатный доступ

The scientific article is devoted to the important role of electric charging stations in the transition to a carbon-neutral economy on the example of two regions: California and London. The article discusses the legislative and infrastructural aspects related to the development of charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, which play a key role in reducing carbon dioxide emissions and improving the environmental situation. A comparative analysis of legislative measures, support programs and technologies used in these regions to accelerate the transition to zero-emission transport is carried out. California and London demonstrate two different approaches to building and maintaining charging infrastructure. In California, the emphasis is on decentralized programs with broad private sector involvement and government initiatives such as the California Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Project. London, on the other hand, is actively implementing strict environmental zones, which stimulates the transition to electric vehicles and contributes to the rapid deployment of charging stations in urban environments. The author of the article emphasizes that the effective development of infrastructure for electric vehicles is impossible without an integrated approach, which includes legislative incentives, program financing, integration with energy systems and addressing the availability of charging stations for all segments of the population.
