The People`S Republic of China`s role in the North Korea - South Korea relationship

The People`s Republic of China is one of the main partners of North Korea and South Korea. They are not only geographically linked, but also have numerous commercial and political treaties, that is why China exerts influence on the political and economic situation of the Korean Peninsula. The question of relationship between North and South Korea is particularly relevant to China because the Korean Peninsula has been and still remains China`s area of influence. Beijing ambiguously treats the idea of reunion of North and South Korea. On the one hand, strong unified Korea would be unfavorable for China, on the other hand, the unification of Korea would help to solve a lot of existing problems. The article examines China`s influence on North Korea - South Korea relations in the second half of the 20th century and at the beginning of the 21st century, it also examines China`s policy objectives in this region.
