The article is devoted to the role of books and reading in the Armed Forces of modern Russia. The trends of reading among military personnel are analyzed, as well as whether the book and reading contribute to the fulfillment of official duty to protect the state. The author considers the question of how reading affects the development of intelligence, improving memory, expanding horizons and gaining new knowledge among military personnel.
