The role of coordination sustainability development strategies in expanding the EAEU's international economic integration

Scientific research on sustainable development focuses on the activities of individual states, transnational and commercial organizations and their impact on the economy and society. Meanwhile, the role of international economic integration in achieving the sustainable development goals of participating countries is an understudied aspect, which provides the scientific novelty of this paper. For instance, the paper presents the results of a survey aimed at justifying the necessity for coordination of sustainability development strategies among the EAEU member states. The study outlines the key Russian theories determining the development of economic thought towards the concept of “sustainable development”. Based on the analysis of statistical information and voluntary assessment reports on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the current status of integrating the SDGs into the discussion agenda of economic integration member states is identified and the challenges that require coordination of the strategies of the EAEU member states are outlined. The key objectives of coordination of sustainable development strategies of the international organization of regional economic integration, which lead both to increased integration processes within the association, and to the reduction of barriers to the entry of new member countries, were specified.
