The role of cultural heritage in the education and upbringing of Russian youth

The article is devoted to analysis of the value of cultural heritage for the formation of a healthy society, respect of tradition, based on the experience of previous generations and cultural memory. In our days there are two important socio-cultural problems that impede or do not allow you to enter works of world culture in the world values of modern man. These problems are connected, first, with an unprecedented expansion of mass culture, processes of globalization and mediatization, and secondly, with the weakening of the sense of history, characteristic of postmodernism. Speaking about the cultural heritage as an important part of today's culture, it is impossible not to take into account its consumerist nature and desire to learn only those cultural texts and products that can be “consumed”, resulting in many programs for the conservation and promotion of cultural heritage need careful design, in creating the attractive image of the heritage site without concessions to populism and purely economic factors.
