The role of the Kyrgyz intelligentsia in the development of higher education in the 60-80 years of the twentieth century

The article examines the contribution of Kyrgyz intellectuals to the development of higher education in Kyrgyzstan during the 1960s-1980s, a key period in the history of the country's education system. During this time, the national educational system underwent significant changes, driven by the active involvement of local scholars, teachers, and public figures. The role of intellectuals in the formation of educational programs, development of teaching materials, and promotion of the Kyrgyz language and culture in the academic environment is discussed. Special attention is given to the work of local scholars in the creation and development of key universities, such as the Kyrgyz State University, as well as the integration of scientific knowledge and national identity into the educational process. The article emphasizes the importance of intellectuals' work in overcoming ideological barriers and addressing challenges, such as the imbalance of language education and limited resources. Overall, the study assesses the role of intellectuals in modernizing the higher education system and strengthening the cultural heritage of Kyrgyzstan, which significantly influenced the subsequent growth and development of the republic.
