The article shows the role of small and medium-sized tourism business in the digital economy. It has been established that small and medium-sized tourism businesses should be ready for digital transformations. It is proved that determining the digital maturity of small and medium-sized tourism businesses can help identify key areas in which processes can be improved, identify problems and prioritize actions. It is determined that the assessment of digital maturity should take into account management and leadership, that is, how prepared the management of a small and medium-sized tourist business entity is for digital transformation. It is also necessary to prepare employees of a small and medium-sized tourist business for operational and cultural changes, because people do not like changes. It has been established that digital transformation can empower employees to work better, faster and more efficiently. In order to effectively train their employees and avoid resistance to changes, the management of a small and medium-sized tourist enterprise needs to have a vision of digital development, the scenario of the company’s development, understand which digital tools it is advisable to implement and understand how they function and what results they will lead to.
