Role of international cooperation in combating illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances

Introduction: Illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances is one of the serious problems for the entire world community. Therefore, the interaction of States to solve it is an important element in the development and protection of the rights of each country's citizens. Materials and methods: international agreements on the problem under consideration are used in the work, the historical characteristics of their formation and development are given. The Results of the study: as the results of the study, the authors draw conclusions about the role of international cooperation in the formation of an international mechanism for countering illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. The results of the study can be used in a more detailed study of the role of international organizations in the fight against illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, as well as a comparative analysis of national mechanisms in this area. Findings and Conclusions: discussing global issues through cooperation and adopting working papers is not the only form of cooperation. Nevertheless, this standard - setting process plays an important role as some of the jointly developed rules are transposed by states into national legislation and applied in practice.
