The article formulates a hypothesis regarding the sensitivity of the investment and innovation activity of the automotive industry to the pricing policy of the oil market. The degree of study of such significant aspects of investment planning in R&D at the enterprises of the automotive industry as the uncertainty of oil prices, mitigation of the effects of climate change, digitalization and electrification of cars is analyzed. The conclusions are empirically substantiated and the reserves for the development of scientific research are determined in the context of improving the planning of investment and innovation activity of automotive industry enterprises. It has been established that automobile companies, whose investment and innovation activity is sensitive to oil prices or other external factors, objectively need to implement effective BERD scenario planning methods, including a wide range of investment risk hedging instruments.
