The relevance of the article is dictated by the need to rethink cross-cultural communication, in connection with the changes that the rapidly developing media have brought. Cross-cultural communication is becoming one of the decisive factors in overcoming alienation, conflicts in the process of development of modern civilization in a transforming global world. New media and the theory of cross-cultural communication are capable of transforming the concept of cross-cultural communication, revealing new digital theories of cross-cultural contacts, and clarifying and expanding existing theories.
