The role of public opinion in a democratic system of governance

The article examines the complex interaction of public opinion and democracy. It is concluded that public opinion is a necessary attribute of a democratic system of governance to ensure its sustainability. At the same time some contradictions are disclosed in the process of interaction of democracy and a public opinion.
