The role of non-governmental organizations in the social management of a region (a case study of Primorsky krai)

The paper determines the place and importance of non-governmental organizations in the social management of Primorsky Krai. The classification of non-governmental organizations in the region reveals their diverse efforts to support civil society. The methods of analysis, generalization and the comparative analysis are used to identify the specific nature of non-governmental organizations activities in the cities and settlements of Primorsky Krai. The focus is on the common issues of such organizations in the Russian regions. The research presents the results of a sociological study into the views of the people in Primorsky Krai on the non-governmental organizations’ practices. Based on public opinion and analytical reports, it is concluded that non-governmental organizations are able to hold a dialog with federal and municipal authorities and change environment through the creation of new behavior patterns and new meanings of people’s daily lives.
