The role of special economic zones in the cluster development of a region (case study of the Republic of Tatarstan)

This article covers the key intention of the special economic zones (SEZ) in the cluster development of a regional economic system. The authors reveal a strong correlation between the innovational clusters and the special economic zones, and describe the specific characteristics and differences between the cluster areas and the SEZ. The research results show that the innovational development of the regional production cluster is inseparably linked with the efficient development of the innovative infrastructure of the SEZ.
