The role of the prosecutor’s office in ensuring the constitutional rights of citizens in criminal proceedings

The article outlines the issues of prosecutorial supervision, ensuring the protection of the constitutional rights of citizens from illegal and unjustified charges, convictions, restrictions on their rights and freedoms. The author draws attention to the priority tasks facing the prosecutor, such as ensuring the rule of law, unity and strengthening of the rule of law, protection of human and civil rights and freedoms. The article pays considerable attention to the function of supervision over the fulfillment of the requirements of the law and the procedure for applying procedural coercive measures to citizens. Other important issues considered in the article are supervision over the observance of the rights of the suspect and the accused to defense, the emergence of the right to rehabilitation as a result of illegal criminal prosecution of a person, compensation for damage caused, restoration of violated rights.
