Role of the police in law enforcement

The article examines the role of the police in maintaining law and order in contemporary society. On the basis of the terminological approach the author analyzes the legal framework that reflects the settled rules of law and order in the society, as well as the role of public authorities and local self-government in its provision. The activities of law enforcement agencies in maintaining law and order are considered in the article as well. In this case the rule of law is seen as an organized state of society based on law and legality. In conclusion, the author's position on the issue is expressed.
