The article "The Role of State Social Expenditures in Achieving the Goal of Improving the Standard of Living of Citizens" examines social support in Russia and ways to improve the standard of living of citizens. The author analyzes the reasons that hinder the improvement of citizens' well-being and considers various indicators characterizing the standard of living, such as the subsistence minimum, the Gini index, the coefficient of funds, the dynamics of household expenditures and per capita income. The article reveals methodological shortcomings in determining some of these indicators. A comparative analysis of these indicators and state social expenditures is conducted. The author determines the key role of social expenditures in improving the standard of living of citizens and emphasizes the importance of an integrated approach to effectively solving this problem, and also suggests the main directions of this approach for the state.
