The role of sports activity in the development of socio-economic systems

This article systematizes and summarizes the results of scientific research on the role of physical culture and sports in the development of socio-economic systems. Tools for quantitative assessment and management of regional policy processes and projects in the field of physical culture and sports are substantiated. For the purposes of this study, sports activity of the population is defined as the percentage of the population systematically engaged in physical culture and sports in the total population (percent). The sports sector of the economy is defined in a broad sense: not only as a sphere of organized sports (clubs, gyms, swimming pools, etc.), but also as a combination of all branches - satellites of physical culture and sports. Sports activity has a complex multidimensional impact on the development of society, contributes to its socio-economic development. Physical education and sport are effective tools for providing a new, more integrated approach to education and can shape and support a set of principles and human rights for effective learning. At the same time, sports, considered in the broadest sense, are increasingly able to attract more different categories of viewers. This feature has made it a major component in the management of tourist flows, able to revitalize the entire city (territory) through sports events, such as the Olympic Games or the world Cup.
