The role of the spatial development strategy in improving the life quality in Russian regions

The article analyzes the statement of the problem, its study and the conclusions of the authors of the article on the problems of development the Russian northern regions and analysis of the assessment of the spatial development of these regions. The relevance of the selection of 9 regions of the circumpolar zone for analyzing the development of these territories by the totality of economic, social and environmental characteristics, as well as by the development of the territory, is noted. An examination of the selection of certain indicators from a large number of indicators is carried out; the available omissions in the selection and evaluation of the weights of the selected indicators are shown. It is concluded that it is necessary to take into account in such studies indigenous ethnic groups living in the northern regions of the Russian Federation. The author considers the proven thesis in the analyzed article that spatial development strategies need to proceed from the long-term horizons of their development. A long-term approach is absent in official documents of various levels, and their horizon of action is only medium-term in nature.
