The role of the advanced special economic zones in the implementation of the import substitution program

The article is devoted to assessing the role of the advanced special economic zones in the implementation of the import substitution program in contemporary conditions. The article considers the essence of the advanced special economic zones, explores the main areas of government support for residents and investors of the ASEZ, indicates the main benefits and preferences for residents, analyzes the activities of the advanced special economic zones of the Far East and Eastern Siberia, provides information of the largest ASEZ in terms of the investments, jobs and the ASEZ specializations, analyzes the activities of the joint-stock company «Russian Far East and Arctic Development Corporation» as a unified institute for ASEZ and Free Port Vladivostok investor support, identifies the factors contributing to the accelerated development of the import substitution projects at the advanced special economic zones. The study used systemic, functional and institutional approaches.
