In the presented article, the author considers the multimodal transport as a tool for the freight-forwarding service quality improvement. The author of the article substantiated that the emergence of multimodal freight traffic allowed to increase the efficiency of cargo delivery, reduce costs of organizing and implementing cargo transportation and increase the speed of cargo delivery. At the same time, quality management in the framework of multimodal transport plays a leading role in minimizing the risks of combining the time of arrival of one and sending another type of transport while minimizing the time spent on completing all the necessary documents and organizing cargo handing operations. In addition, it is significant to note the importance of escorting cargo along the entire route to the consignee by the freight-forwarder company, which reduces risks and improves the quality of services provided in the framework of the implementation of multimodal transport. However, despite all the prospects for the development of multimodal transport in the Russian market, the author noted the key role of the government in implementation of state standards and laws in this area, contributing to the development of both the transport system in general and multimodal transport in particular.
