The article provides definitions for the concepts of «active citizenship», «voluntary (volunteer) activity». The formation of an active civic position in such a socio-demographic group as youth is considered. The role of the volunteer movement, namely professional volunteering, in the formation of an active citizenship of young people is also studied on the basis of a sociological study conducted among two groups of young people, and the results of the study are described.
