The role of procurement activities in the implementation of the concept of sustainable development of the region

Within the framework of this scientific work, aspects that reflect the role of public procurement in the implementation of the strategy for sustainable regional development are studied. The paper considers the key provisions characterizing the state of the concept of sustainable regional development, and reflects the importance of this concept in modern socio-economic conditions. For this purpose, the main aspects of regional policy were described. The authors give an explanation regarding the current prospects for the application of the concept of sustainable development. In addition, the key elements of procurement activities aimed at optimizing the use of budget funds and improving the efficiency of interaction between the state and organizations were described. The authors pay the particular attention to the phenomenon of green procurement, which has a significant impact on the environmental sphere. In this regard, the structure of green procurement by type of public sector entities was considered on the example of the Volga Federal District. In the final part of the work, the authors suggest the results concerning the assessment of the place and role of public procurement as an instrument of influence on sustainable regional development, and make recommendations to increase the role of green procurement as a promising area of procurement activity.
