Seasonal dynamics of activity of ferriferous oxidases (peroxidase and catalase) in leaves of Betula pendula and Populus pyramidalis growing in the territory of Saratov city is investigated. It is shown that during the vegetative period woody plants try to resist to adverse conditions of the urban environment due to the change of peroxidase activity. At B. pendula by the end of the vegetative period activity of this enzyme turns out lowered what demonstrates decrease in adaptation abilities of a plant. At P. piramidalis small increase in peroxidase activity is noted that testifies to their steady character of adaptation to negative factors of the urban environment. It is shown that in comparison with the background territory at the studied trees low catalase activity was noted. In city conditions during the vegetative period catalase activity in leaves of B. pendula and P. pyramidalis was practically left without change and was characterized by low values. The inhibition of catalase activity is an indicator of lowered adaptation opportunities of trees.
