Russia and the EU: building a European security system in the 2000s

The article deals with the construction of a security system on the European continent. Attention is paid to the ways of seeking a dialogue and cooperation between Russia and the EU, as well as building productive cooperation between them. It is noted that the policy of cooperation was built in the difficult conditions of NATO's expansion to the East and the existence of Russia's aspirations to influence the countries of the post-Soviet space and the former socialist camp. Particular attention is paid to the contradictions between Russia and the withdrawal of the EU and NATO. The article inevitably touches upon the Ukrainian conflict, which led to the aggressive rhetoric of the NATO member states and the European Union, as well as the growing crisis in multilateral relations. The author makes a special emphasis on the policy of the Western countries, pursuing their policies without taking into account the geo-strategic interests of the Russian Federation. The result of the growing contradictions is the crisis situation, which is exacerbated by the conflict in Ukraine. On the other hand, the author of the structure of Russia's foreign policy, noting her balance and willingness to make concessions in order to build a unified security system that is relevant for the European continent.
