Russian athletics at the European championships: retrospective review and prospects of development

The world hosts a large number of athletics competitions, both official and commercial. At these competitions not only athletes, but also the countries compete, as the quality of performance of each athlete speaks about the level of development of the sport in the country. One of the most important and prestigious in athletics are the European Championships, held for many years under the auspices of the European athletics Association (EA). This article reflects the history of performances of the Russian national team in the European arena since the beginning of its independent performances (since 1994), analyzes the results of performances by groups of species and identifies current trends and the level of Russian athletics in the European arena.
