The paper analyzes the specificity and crisis aspects of the construction of national-state identity in modern Russia. It is emphasized that today the crisis of national-state identity of the 1990s - 2000s, caused by the collapse of the USSR, has not been completely overcome. Based on the results of the research “National-State Identity in Russia", the author of the paper identifies key trends in the transformation of the all-Russian self-identification of Russians at the present. There are the weakness of the cognitive foundation of national self-conciseness, retrospective orientation and personalization of ideas about the past, including a positive perception of the Soviet experience. Also important are the amorphousness of the image of the future and the tendency to negativize it, as well as the emphasis on compensatory “negative" macro-political identity, manifested in the search for internal and external enemies of Russia.
