Russian press in 1917: newspapers as a source

The paper analyzes the publications in Russian newspapers of January and December 1917 and the factors forming the patterns of the periodical press. Among these factors are: the financial sources forming the economic base of a print media, the dependence on political groups owning the edition, the dependence on specific interests of the editors. The main features of the four patterns of Russian press are described in details.
