Russian baptists and evangelical Christians: concerning origin and unity of the denominations

At present the Protestant denominations (including Evangelicalism and Baptism) play an important role in the development of religious life of the contemporary Russia. Emerging simultaneously and independently in the 17 th century in Europe these denominations of Protestantism came simultaneously to the Russian Empire in the second half of the 19 th century, transforming into the Russian Protestantism. The article discusses the origin of these denominations, history of their relations and attempts to merge, beginning from the late 191 th century and till the establishment of the Soviet power.
