Russian and Chinese twin cities and partner cities

The article examines the experience of international cooperation between Russian and Chinese cities. The concepts of twin cities and partner cities, their relationships, roles in the processes of integration of the Russian-Chinese cultural and economic space are studied. The authors consider twinning as a social experience, distinctive and interesting in its resource potential for the population of twin cities. The existing development of interstate forms of interaction within the framework of the twinning movement is studied, the most effective forms are given as examples, contributing to the actualization of historical ties between the twin cities of Russia and China. Using the example of a number of twin cities of two countries, historical and socio-cultural components are considered, and the main directions for the development of international cooperation are identified. The paper highlights some factors that help establishing strong friendly relations between Russian cities and Chinese partners. The main areas of partnership and prospects for joint projects in the near future are outlined. The rationale for the need to involve municipalities in this process is the development of Russian-Chinese cooperation. The authors assess possibility of further strengthening international cooperation within the framework of the twinning institute. They conclude that twinning of cities is an important milestone in the foreign policy activities of states. It affects comprehensive interregional cooperation and forms the prestige of the country at the global level.
