Russian regions: demographic dynamics and innovative activities

The fundamental differences in establishing cultural, ethic, social, economic and political processes make regions' resources for developing industrial and innovative activities quite different. Not all the regions in Russia have a poten tial for an innovative breakthrough. The article analyses these regions' innova tive potentials from the point of view of connecting them with the current demo graphic processes which are assessed according to the theory of a demographic transition.
