The article discusses the Russian-Iranian relations during the tenure of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Largely they were built under the influence of Iran's nuclear program. The Ahmadinejad's government with the offensive policy against the West, tried to establish close relations with Russia and China and to obtain their support in the world and in the region. However, the relations between Iran and the USA considerably influences on the development of the relations between Moscow and Tehran. Russia basing on its national interests, played a mediator function in the disputes between Iran and the Western powers. The author assumes that this approach increases the influence of the Russian government on the control over international crises and helps Russia to attain the status of a world power.
