Russian-Italian trade relations: status and prospects for normalization

Бесплатный доступ

The article analyzes trade and economic relations between Italy and Russia in historical retrospect, showing the mutual dependence and interest of the economies of the two countries in maintaining mutual trade, which the current political course of the Italian government does not meet. A conclusion is made about the significant dependence of the Italian economy on the supply of Russian hydrocarbon raw materials, the refusal of which became possible at the cost of rising domestic prices to the detriment of the national economy. It is shown that one of the driving forces, in addition to the readiness of the Russian side to resume trade cooperation on the previous scale, is the active lobbying of Italian business circles. The possibility of restructuring supply channels and implementing other solutions that would contribute to the restoration of commodity exchange between the two countries was noted.
