Within the landmark event in the Russian history - the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the.Great Terror.- the article examines the scientific activity of a number of scientists in Mongolian studies, whose life ended tragically in the 1930s. The choice of the names of orientalists is not accidental, their fates were closely intertwined not only in the sphere of scientific activity, but they were also united by a complex historical period, by teachers - world-famous scientists, a place of work, a year of tragic decease. Understanding how sad the consequences of repressions were for scientific Mongolian studies is possible only after a deep immersion in the history of the formation of this direction of oriental studies. Taking into account the fact that the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries was also difficult, and the emergence of researchers from the national intelligentsia gave a new impulse to the further development of the scientific Mongolian studies, it became clear that the repressions had ended the imperial school of Mongolian studies.
