The growth of long tubular bones was studied on the basis of roentgenography (roentgenometry) data in 50 patients with achondroplasia before and after cross lengthening of the femur and leg according to Ilizarov. The authors revealed a positive effect of the processes occurred during lengthening on the growth of the intact femur and leg at the age of 7-10 years. The longitudinal growth of the lower limb bones lengthened was noted to be preserved at the age of 7-10 years, while in the elder age groups the growth of the lower limb segments after lengthening couldn't be practically noted.
