Management of youth reading in the socio-cultural planning system

The article is devoted to the management of reading of youth as an important scientific and practical direction influencing social, cultural and spiritual life of youth. Theoretical approaches to the management of reading, as well as interpretations of this concept, formed in the second half of XX century and in the beginning of XXI century, are considered. The reasons for the low efficiency of the implemented projects of reading development are explained. Attention is paid to the multifaceted needs of young people in fiction. The author notes the difference between organized and free reading, the factors influencing and shaping the tastes of young readers, goal-setting of social institutions in the formation of readers' competencies. The article compares domestic and foreign experience in understanding the problem of youth reading management.
